About the song "Why don't you and I"

Alex Band also recorded a single with legendary guitar player Carlos Santana, “Why Don’t You and I,” which was written by Chad Kroeger (Nickelback). However, Chad was vetoed by his own record label from participating in the single, as it could have affected the release and reception of Nickelback’s album The Long Road. It was Chad himself who recommended Alex Band as a replacement for the re-recording of the single, which, as expected, was a major success with the voice of The Calling’s lead singer.

  • The song was recorded as a duet with Santana in two versions: one featuring Chad’s vocals and the other with Alex’s.

  • The music video was filmed with Alex, not Chad.

Live in Brazil DVD Recording

During the 2008 tour in Brazil, the recording of a live DVD was announced. In addition to several unreleased songs from his solo career, Alex Band performed The Calling’s greatest hits. Part of the show was recorded on June 24, 2008, at HSBC Brasil in São Paulo, as well as in other cities such as Santos/SP, Juiz de Fora/MG, and Brasília/DF. The DVD was released in 2009.

About the song "Please"

“…I grew up with a Jewish Father who didn’t practice and a Christian Mother whose only tie to Jesus was celebrating Christmas. Needless to say I had to find my own religion. And in this song I’m asking God what that should be…what should I believe? In a world so full of different religions and so many people fighting over whose belief is the correct one, it frustrates me to think that they all really boil down to the same thing.”

Alex Band's Quotes (from the past):

  • I am incredibly grateful for what we’ve achieved so far.

  • One of the greatest things in my life is to hear of our fans’ hardships and know they rose above them with the help of our music.

  • What would a band be without a couple crazy fans? The real hardcore ones. I’d be lost without them.

  • Life is too short to hold grudges and I have too much love to give.

  • Focus on your goals and dreams. It’s important to have a passion for something. Find out what it is and make it your own.

  • I like being a regular person. Just going out with my fiancée and my cats. I'm a helicopter pilot. I enjoy flying helicopters. I do that a lot in Los Angeles.

  • “Please make the fans aware that because I am completely independent now, I rely entirely on my sales…and if I don’t sell enough music I can’t tour. So with every person that steals a copy of a song, they are making it that much harder for me to ever see them on tour or continue to make music.”

  • I also wanted to say thank you for all your love and support this far. I appreciate all of you so much!! This is just the beginning..“
